In 2015 we had an interesting year. Marijuana became legal in our home state of Oregon. My husband, Jim, has always been fascinated with marijuana plants, so he grew some plants for friends/patients. I wasn’t so keen on the whole idea. I told him, “Weed is just not my plant.” I had no interest in it. By the end of summer that had changed.
My back was hurt significantly that summer from falling off of my motorcycle. I think I tore a muscle. I visited the chiropractor, massage therapist, acupuncturist, and bought some yoga DVDs to do some stretching and strengthening at home. I still hurt deep in my lower back, so I tried some essential oils. They seemed to help quite a bit, but I knew I could do better. I didn’t resort to conventional pain pills because I have a sensitive stomach and they often cause worse problems, so I felt stuck.
I kept hearing from doctors, lawyers, and other professionals how certain types of topical cannabis could heal and help with a lot of different health ailments. This was new and fascinating to me so I researched it.
What I found that there are receptors in our bodies and skin that accept chemicals from plants like cannabis and echinacea that have healing properties. This was a new concept to me. Topical cannabis has been used medicinally for thousands of years. Israel has several cannabis farms dedicated to medical research and to providing for sick patients called Tikum Olam, which means “healing the world.” Thanks to the many dedicated researchers and scientists in Israel there is now much scientific data supporting the use of cannabis in the healing arts. You can find many interesting articles in our blog and in our educational section about cannabis. You can also find interesting data from many sources on-line including this one: www.tikun-olam.info.
An idea came to me that I could use topical cannabis along with essential oils and mix them into a salve that would help decrease the inflammation/pain in my sore back. Essential oils by themselves are little power-houses in healing the body.
I created some recipes using only organic ingredients and Jim came up with some innovative ideas to make the topical cannabis salves more effective. We decided to keep it all organic because this is healthier for your body and the plant extracts would cross the skin barrier more naturally and easily when they are organic. The skin is the largest organ in our body and we didn’t want any toxic substances in it. I handcrafted some topical cannabis infused salves in my kitchen and tried them on myself. I was amazed at how effective they were. They provided rapid, lasting pain relief, with NO HIGH, NO SIDE-EFFECT…….. NO PAIN!
I gave samples to other people to see what their results were. They experienced great pain relief also and requested more.
I’ve created this site to help you learn more about using cannabis topical products and to promote your own well-being. Our deepest desire is to get you started on your own personal journey toward complete healing.
My dog, Jack, takes CBD tincture every day. It decreases the inflammation in her arthritic joints, enabling her to engage in her favorite activities….swimming and chasing ball. She’s a very happy girl!
