In 2015 we had an interesting year. Marijuana became legal in our home state of Oregon. My husband, Jim who is an avid gardener has always been fascinated with marijuana plants, so he grew some plants for friends/patients. I wasn’t so keen on the whole idea. I told him, “Weed is just not my plant.” I had no interest in it. By the end of summer I had started a cannabis topicals business and had changed my ideas about it completely.
I hurt my back significantly that summer from falling off of my motorcycle. I think I tore a muscle. I visited the chiropractor, massage therapist, acupuncturist, and bought some yoga DVDs to do some stretching and strengthening at home. I still hurt deep in my lower back, so I tried some essential oils. They seemed to help quite a bit, but I knew I could do better. I didn’t resort to opioids because of their many side effects and because they give me an ulcer. I felt stuck.
Living in the heart of marijuana haven, the legalization of marijuana and the medical benefits of this amazing plant were common conversations. I kept hearing from doctors, lawyers, and other professionals how cannabis could help with a lot of different health ailments. I was interested, but I didn’t want any psychoactive effect. I wanted a clear head because I am very active and have a lot of responsibilities. I did some extensive medical research to find out for myself what would work for me.
I discovered there are receptors in our bodies/skin that accept chemicals from plants like cannabis and echinacea that have healing properties. Topical cannabis has been used medicinally for thousands of years. Israel has several cannabis farms dedicated to medical research and to providing for sick patients called Tikum Olam, which means “healing the world.” Thanks to the many dedicated researchers and scientists in Israel over the years, there is now much scientific data supporting the use of cannabis in the arts of wellness. You can find many interesting articles in our blog and in our educational section about cannabis. You can also find interesting data from many sources on-line including this one: www.tikun-olam.info.
An idea came to me that I could use topical cannabis along with essential oils and mix them into a salve/balm that would help decrease the inflammation/pain in my sore back. Essential oils by themselves are little power-houses when is comes to wellness.
I created some formulas using only organic ingredients and Jim came up with some innovative ideas to make the topical cannabis salves more effective. We decided to keep it all organic because this is healthier for your body and the plant extracts would cross the skin barrier more naturally and easily when they are organic. The skin is the largest organ in our body and we didn’t want any toxic substances in it. I handcrafted some topical cannabis infused salves in my kitchen and tried them on myself. I was amazed at how effective they were. They provided rapid, lasting pain relief, with NO HIGH, NO SIDE-EFFECT…….. NO PAIN!
I gave samples to other people to see what their results were. They experienced great pain relief also and requested more. The calls and emails kept coming in and I knew we had a formula that was different, sui generis.
This lead us to creating Canna-Fusion, a unique, small business that makes top quality cannabis topicals. We make small batches in order to insure consistency, quality, and compliance. Each ingredient is chosen for a particular reason and are of the utmost quality.
What makes our topicals so effective is that we make them with YOU in mind. Each batch is made with much care and pure intention. YOU are the driving force behind our business.
This site was created to help you learn more about using cannabis topical products and to promote your own well-being. Our deepest desire is to get you started on your own personal journey toward complete wellness.
My dog, Jack, eats THC/CBD cookies every day. She has been diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, a bone cancer in her back right hock that causes much swelling and pain. The cookies are not curative, as far as we know, but they enable her to engage in her favorite activities….running, swimming chasing rabbits and tennis balls. She’s a very happy girl!
8/22/2018 Update: Jack is a different girl….swimming everyday and up early every morning to play. She is much more active than before. The change is amazing and unexpected. She is living the good life and is a true joy in my life!
11/26/2019 Update: My best friend, Jack, passed away this year. She was requiring a very heavy dose of cannabis every day to keep comfortable. She slept a lot, but still played every single day. She had lost over 20 pounds and had no muscle mass left on her body. She was getting more cranky and becoming incontinent. I finally decided to take her to the vet to have her put to sleep. I took her to the park and threw the ball for her many times as tears ran down my face. Where others would have put their dog to sleep a year ago or have the leg amputated, I decided to greatly improve Jack’s quality of life by baking her cannabis cookies on a regular basis with an increasing dose as needed. She was very happy and had the best last year of her life…never missing a play day. I miss Jack terribly. When I look at her picture I can hear her saying to me “Play on!” For Jack, life was about playing and living life to the fullest.
